What do you want to name the boat?
We named the boat Elizabeth Lynn, a combination of my sister’s middle name, and my middle name.
Why?
We chose that name because…I don’t know.
Actually, the name of the boat was my suggestion. Growing up near the Chesapeake Bay, I always admired how watermen would name their dead rise boats as if they were “she’s”, or female. Lovely, flowing femine names would adorn the bows of these historic vessels. I’m assuming they were named after mothers, wives, sweethearts, or whatever girl brought them good luck.
My daughters are my good luck, and I thought the combination of their middle names was equally lovely and worthy of adorning the boat of our small dory once it’s complete. So Elizabeth Lynn it’ll be – a finer vessel can’t be found!
